projects and activities

Below is an overview of some of our major projects and activities. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions about our work.

Liberation Now! - The National Student Animal Rights Conference  is the biggest annual event dedicated to bringing together students and youth in the struggle for animal rights. When Liberation Now!was first held in February 2002, it made history as the biggest youth event in the history of the animal rights movement. Since then, we have continued to bring together hundreds of young animal advocates each year with some of the most noted organizers and speakers of the animal rights movement. Liberation Now! has attracted repeated sponsorships from many organizations, including, but not limited to: Animal Protection Institute, AnimalsVoice.com, In Defense of Animals, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Saving Our Resources Today, and VegNews.

Demand Liberation: Regional Student Animal Rights Action Conferences is a series of organizing and local networking-oriented events held in various parts of the country to connect young activists regionally and nationally to organize and take action together. The first Demand Liberation regional action conferences were held in New York City , Chicago , and Berkeley in February and March of 2004 and specially sponsored by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

National Action Network is our new proactive, grassroots networking project to connect young activists with each other nationally and locally. In addition to keeping our network members updated with the latest national and local news, actions, and campaigns, our National Action Network provides support and resources for young activists to take action and organize in defense of animals, and informed and inspired by the work of other network members.

Grassroots Training Program is the first program for youth leadership development in the animal protection movement. Instead of tempting fate and leaving the important task of leadership recruitment, training, and development to chance, the Student Animal Rights Alliance launched our first Grassroots Training Program in February 2003 with fourteen specially selected participants and provided them with the training in the basic skills of public communications, grassroots organizing, and campaign organizing to organize more effectively in their schools and/or communities.

Get On The Hill: National Training & Lobby Day is the very first event in the animal protection movement designed to train young animal advocates in the nuts & bolts of lobbying and get them involved in taking political action for animals. Get On The Hill brings young animal advocates directly to Capitol Hill in Washington , DC to speak up for animals to their Members of Congress and their staffers by lobbying for animal protection legislations. The first Get On The Hill was held in November 2003 with the Animal Protection Institute, Fund for Animals, and Humane Society of the United States .

All of the Student Animal Rights Alliance 's youth mobilization activities are made possible by the generous contributions of our donors. Please make a tax-deductible donation to support our work to build a strong youth movement for animals. Thanks!
