Meet the Student Animal Rights Alliance's board members! We are a small and growing grassroots organization, and we are in the process of further growing our organization by welcoming additional board members - stay tuned!

Taneshia Campbell
After serving as Vice President of Brooklyn Technical High School's animal rights club, Taneshia worked with NYPIRG (New York Public Interest Research Group) as a Homeless Project Coordinator. She then joined AmeriCorps to service and rebuild communities in South Carolina and to work at a children's hospital. Taneshia is now actively involved in the advocacy of the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

Patrick Kwan is the founder and Executive Director of the Student Animal Rights Alliance. Since tagging along with his college activist sister at the age of 12 to campaign against sweatshops, Patrick has organized scores of rallies, trainings, and conferences, and served as a speaker and trainer at dozens of animal rights, environmental, and human rights conferences and events. Before founding SARA in 2001, Patrick worked as a Field Organizer for Amnesty International's human rights and the environment program.

Nathan Runkle is Director of Mercy For Animals, an Ohio grassroots animal rights group he founded in 1999. He is active with several other animal protection organizations and has conducted countless demonstrations and other actions throughout the state of Ohio and around the nation. Nathan is a frequent speaker on animal rights and veganism at universities, high schools, conferences, and other events.

Paul Shapiro is the campaigns director for Compassion Over Killing, a nonprofit animal advocacy organization whose work on behalf of farmed animals has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Baltimore Sun, among other media outlets. As a COK investigator, he has documented the conditions for animals in factory farms, livestock auctions, and slaughter plants. He is also a regular speaker at high schools and colleges.
